According to Football Insider, PSV have lowered their demands from £25m to £20m for Leeds United target Noni Madueke.
The Lowdown: Leeds prepare for new season
The Whites enjoyed a good first season back in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa as they finished in the top half of the table.
This season, though, each side will already be fully aware of how they play, and they will no longer have the element of surprise. To avoid second-season syndrome, they will need to bring in some fresh faces to add depth and quality.
The Latest: Leeds eye Madueke
Now, it is being reported that PSV have lowered their demands for 19-year-old Madueke.
Instead of £25m, they are now only looking for £20m for the England youth international, with a Leeds source revealing this ‘encouragement’ for the Whites to Football Insider.
The Verdict: Plenty of ability
Madueke was formerly on the books of both Crystal Palace and Tottenham, but in an attempt to forge a career in the game, he made the move to the Eredivisie – a decision that now looks inspired.
In 32 games in all competitions last term, he scored nine and created a further eight (Transfermarkt) goals, and looks like he is set for a big future.
He has even been compared to current Manchester City star and England international Phil Foden – high praise indeed (Aidy Boothroyd, via the Daily Mail).
£20m would still be a considerable fee for Leeds, but given how he has performed at such a young age, he may just be worth a punt.
In other news, Leeds have been tipped to sell this man this summer.
